1912 is the era when women was earning the right to vote. It was a very specific era but a very important one. The fashion at the time was starting to become a very big thing. From even gowns to day gowns there are a huge range. For women in a higher class at the time would aim on looking their best, and looking their best can results in some unusual things for example corsets. They are beautiful to maintain a woman’s posture and shape but painful to wear. Women at the time would no doubt wear it create an illusions of a smaller waist. For the less fortunate women they would wear “petticoats”. Petticoats are under garments that is worn under the dress to create a dome like effect from the hips down, the wearer would then appear to have a smaller waist.
